Intel
The Biden CHIP’s Act provides $280 billion to companies in the form of grants and loans to boost domestic research, development and manufacturing. Trump, ever the businessman, is not just giving out grants, he is demanding a stake in the company for the money.
The Trump administration announced that the U.S. government will take a 10% stake in Intel, valued at about $8.9 billion, in exchange for previously awarded grant money under the CHIPS and Science Act and secure enclave program funding.
Intel was in trouble, facing severe financial losses. These grants and loans were a salvation. The company was facing aggressive cost cutting including plant closures and job cuts. This will help the company and give the taxpayers a return on their investment.
