Putin and nukes

During the 45 years of the cold war, the world was held together by the threat of mutual nuclear destruction or MAD. The longer the Ukraine War goes on, the more Putin sees Russia being destroyed and the use of nuclear weapons becoming a reality. An autocratic leader who understands his power is about to be jeopardized will be willing to end the world rather than lose authority. His bluff will turn into action and this possibility has the sane world running scared. Putin understands this and thus the West will back down when he moves to use nukes. The MAD policy that kept people too afraid to act foolishly, only works when people act rationally. Up to now NATO has acted like the Biden policy of, as long as it takes, but soon they will be looking for ways to end the conflict and simple things like giving up territory will no longer matter. They are slowly coming to the realization that Putin will do whatever it takes to save Mother Russia, even if it means destroying it.
