Australian election

The election this week in Australia may well be a precursor of the upcoming US election. One party emphasized climate change while the other pushed for jobs. The country gets 70% of its energy from coal and the energy industry was under attack with opponents pushing to get rid of fossil fuels in 12 years. This is not only physically impossible but it would throw the whole country into chaos. Once again the polls showed the opposition party to be winning but the final vote was different. Thanking his opponent, Mr Morrison paid tribute to "the quiet Australians" who had voted for the Coalition. The winner Mr. Morrison summed things up by saying: It has been those Australians who have worked hard every day, they have their dreams, they have their aspirations, to get a job, to get an apprenticeship, to start a business, to meet someone amazing," he said.
