Flu stats

People are anxiously awaiting the new flu vaccine but in the 2017/2018 flu season with the vaccine 80,000 still died from the flu. CDC estimates that influenza was associated with more than 48.8 million illnesses, more than 22.7 million medical visits, 959,000 hospitalizations, and 79,400 deaths during the 2017–2018 influenza season even though 40% of Americans or 120 million people received flu shots. Most of the deaths were in the over 65 group with the 50 to 65 group second and children third.
