College

For many years people lamented the fact that children from wealthier families more often attend college and this was not fair. Now we are discussing eliminating $50,000 of college debt so that families who didn't have children in college can supplement families who do have children in college. In 2016, students who had recently left high school (whether they graduated or not) from the highest-income quartile were much more likely than those from the lowest-income quartile to continue on to some type of higher education (78 and 46 percent, respectively).
