Blacks in prison

Today on the news it was pointed out that Blacks account for 37% of the prison population but Black males are only 6% of the general population. While this is disturbing, the data on convicted felons helps to explain some of the disproportionate number of Black males in prison. Blacks were convicted of 54% of murders, 53% of robberies, 30% of assaults and 30% of burglaries. These are major felons and go to prison by law. None of these are drug convictions.
