Greed

There are many easily found articles on the Internet showing that moving the student loan program from the private sector to the government has saved students money. This happened because the private banks needed a profit to maintain the business but the government can operate without profit. If this is the case then why stop here. Why not have the government provide car loans and inventory loans for business. Let the government provide home mortgage loans and in essence eliminate the need for banks in general. We could have one large government bank to handle all of our needs. Some say this would substitute greed for money in the private sector to greed for power in the government sector. Greed for money is another way of interpreting the profit motive and greed for power is another way of understanding the helping hand of government. I bring this up because it is a way of representing how many see the upcoming election. Will the voters decide that the government can best handle our needs or will they move toward less government? Will the voters place their trust in government or in the private sector?
