Legal vs illegal

On the radio today a commentator said that generally speaking, conservatives are distrustful of immigrants while liberals are mostly friendly toward them. This is example of misleading by omission. The statement is true when taking about illegal immigrants. Very few people oppose legal immigrants since most everyone here is either an immigrant or a descendent of an immigrant. This type of reporting is common.
