Electric power growth
MicroSoft alone is opening a new data center every three days. Each of these, on average, will need 100 megawatts which is what a small nuclear reactor can supply. That is the equivalent of one large nuclear power plant every 30 days. Throw in Google, Amazon and Facebook and the country cannot keep up with wind and solar. Thirty years ago the US was getting 60% of its electric power from fossil fuels and today it is still 60% despite the fact that in just the past ten years $2.6 trillion dollars has been spent on wind and solar. The problem is that the increase in electric power is growing faster than wind and solar can be implemented. This will get much worse in the coming years because of the AI requirements of these social media companies. Small nuclear reactors can keep up and surpass these needs.
