Migrants
The law governing US immigration policy is called the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). The INA allows the US to grant up to 675,000 permanent immigrate visas each year across various visa categories. This number should be much higher. These people are young adults with good educations. They fit nicely with the lesser educated migrants crossing the southern border. These illegal migrants should undergo back ground checks and any convicted felons should be sent back immediately. The others should be giving ITIN's and allowed to work. After some period of time, perhaps five years, they should become eligible for a green card. At the end of another five years they should be eligible for citizenship provided they are fluent in English. This gives them ten years to learn the language which will make them more valuable employees. These people are needed to keep the country prospering.
In 2023, the fertility rate in the United States was 1.62 births per woman, which is a record low. This is well below the replacement rate of 2.1 births per woman, which is needed to keep the population at replacement levels.
