Churchill

Winston Churchill's finest hour speech happened just a few months after his rise to Prime Minister and just after Dunkirk and the fall of France. The people of England along with the opposition party in the government wanted to make peace with Hitler. They felt they would eventually lose the war and wanted to save the lives of millions of Brits. Churchill stepped forth with what is considered the best of his many inspiring speeches where he said, We shall fight on the beaches,we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender and he rallied the people. He knew at this time the war would not end quickly and maybe in defeat but he kept a positive attitude and carried that through to the end of the war. In simple terms he was a cheer leader which was just what England needed.
