Thinking and changing

When I was in high school Norman Vincent Peal came out with his book, The Power Of Positive Thinking, and it changed the way I looked at the world. This led me to another book that was written in the depression called, Think And Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill and a few years later I read, The Greatest Salesman Who Ever Lived and these books have helped me through life. As the years passed other books were published and led to an entire genre called self help books. In recent years this positive thinking has taken on a religious slant with the concept called prosperity gospel. Surveys say that people think about what is wrong 80% of the time. They talk about their problems whether caused by themselves or others. These writers knew that your mind hears what your mouth says, that your thoughts determine your attitude and your attitude determines your life. In today's world the news bombards people daily with bad reports about sickness and death. In my youth the news was only a small part of our lives but today it confronts us 24/7. It takes a conscious effort to overcome this onslaught of negativity. Remember when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
