These cities thought you could spend less on policing and not have an increase in crime. Instead of weeding out bad cops and instituting new training these cities thought they could solve problems by reducing police presence. Attempts to help police were met with derisive comments. People who said Blue Lives Matters were attacked as being racist. Once again politics muddies up the issue.
