Change

It is often said that words have meaning but interpretation can change over time. The original definition of Woke was being aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues especially issues of race and justice. This was all well and good but starting about 20 years ago elements of the far left begin to change the meaning of Woke. Today Woke means diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), critical race theory (CRT), gender surgery on children, transmen in women's sports and bathrooms, more than two sexes, tearing down statues, renaming buildings and on and on. As these left wing groups gained power, supported by the press, the feeling that they could cause a cultural revolution grew and they finally awakened the sleeping silent majority and the public demanded change and this was highlighted in the election of Trump. People had to live with high food cost, unsafe neighborhoods and border problems but their concerns weren't being recognized. It seemed the government was more concerned about the plight of migrants than of the citizens. Polls showed that 70% of the people thought the country was going in the wrong direction and they wanted, they demanded change. The change promised by Trump in on the way but some are still hanging on to the old way. Change will not be easy and it will be made more difficult by those in power who want to maintain the status quo. Bureaucrats within the federal government along with state and local officials want to hang on to their power and have promised not to cooperate.
