Border kids

There are marches taking place across the country because 2,000 children were separated from their families. These people are upset because Trump said he was doing this to deter others from coming across the border In 2014 70,000 unaccompanied children crossed the border and immediately sought out border patrol agents so the could get the care they needed. In June the federal government began cracking down on children and families who'd arrived in the United States. It instituted mandatory detention for families, and sped up the process for evaluating whether children and families could stay in the US — with the explicit aim of deporting most of them as quickly as possible. The reasoning behind this, officials said at the time, was to deter children and families still in Central America from coming to the US in future
