Import tax

The experts around the globe say that if you increase the taxes on imports this will cause consumer prices to rise and that is why they are against the increases. If their first concern is consumer prices then they should get rid of all existing import taxes and this would lower prices to the consumer. The concern for the consumer is not real. What they are most concerned about is the fact that import taxes are money that goes directly to the government and they can then redistribute it in the manner they feel is most appropriate.
