Korea

It is often times difficult to get apples to apples comparisons in real world situations but North and South Korea gives a very accurate example of the difference between a free market capitalist society verses a communist government. These people are the same, culturally, ethnically, racially and with the same history and religion. At the end of the war in 1953 both countries were reduced to rubble and then they chose different pathways to government. The North went with the communist system and today the people are starving. The South went for capitalism and they are thriving. The GDP of North Korea is $12 billion and the GDP of South Korea is $1,400 billion. On a per person basis the North is $480 and the South is $28,000.
