Journalism
Jake Tapper, the author of the new best-selling book about President Bidens cognitive issues, was being interviewed on PBS and when asked what was the most important thing he learned from this experience, he responded by saying. I learned that you cannot trust what the people in power tell you. This is a man who has spent 30 years as a journalist and he is just finding out that people in power will lie to keep their power. The first day in journalism school all students are told that you cannot trust the government. The problem evolved overtime as the elite journalist started living together in Washington DC and they went to the same parties, their kids went to the same schools and in many cases, they intermarried politician to journalist. In order to maintain their status within the group they sacrificed their skepticism. In some weird and unexpected way, Trump may revitalize the journalism business by reawaking their responsibility to challenge the government at every junction. The past and recent history is replete with examples of government lies. One of the fundamental principals protecting the constitution is the free press. Over the years the press has slowly aligned itself with the democratic party and this is a threat to democracy. Hopefully recent events will remind them the both parties cannot be trusted.
