ROE

Israel is fighting a war using the same limitations that the US used in recent wars. The US soldiers were to follow Rules of Engagement (ROE) which placed restrictions on their conduct. Israel is bombing nuclear and missile launching facilities while taking precaution to minimize civilian collateral damage. Iran is targeting civilians. For some this does not make sense, as they believe that if you are going to war, then go to win or don’t go. Veterans from Korea onward often talk about how they were limited by the ROE. In WW 2 the US deliberately bombed cities with the sole purpose of killing civilians. The idea was to win by demoralizing the people.
