Solyndra

In the 7 years between 2008 and 2015 over 100 solar panel companies that received government loans went bankrupt and each one made campaign contributions before they closed. In addition many of the original investors walked off with a profit. The most famous example is Solyndra which received a $535 million loan guarantee and this was paid by the government when the company filed for bankruptcy. While solar is sold as a replacement for fossil fuels it is used as a conduit to campaigns. The use of other more viable sources to produce electric power, sources like natural gas, methane hydrate and thorium nuke plants are not discussed because there is no direct path back to campaigns. The idea of a carbon tax is in the news because this would bring in money to the government. It would be a transfer from consumers via increased utility cost to the government because the companies would pay the carbon tax by increasing the electric rates. Recall when President Obama said, "your utility rates will necessarily sky rocket". As long as politics is determining the road to climate change this deliberate misdirection will continue.
