The population of Memphis is 650,000 with Blacks at 63%, Hispanics at 10%. The police force is 52% Black, the mayor is Black and the city council has 9 Black members and 4 Whites. Memphis has the highest crime rate of any US city including 393 murders in 2023. Of those 85% were Black and 90% of those were killed by other Blacks. Memphis schools rank in the lowest third in the country. Home ownership is 46% compared to the national average of other cities at 66%. If Black lives matter, then some changes are needed.
