Most observers are well aware of the hypocrisy that is displayed in politics and it is not limited to one party. The most recent examples surround the claims of free speech. People should be reminded that the first amendment applies to government and not private business. When conservatives were being banned from social media under the claims of misinformation there were many complaints claiming free speech was being attacked. The only illegal action here stems from the fact that there were allegations that government was pressuring social media companies to ban certain people and that would be illegal. Currently private company employees are losing their jobs over controversial statements but once again the allegation is that government is putting pressure on these companies based on their desires to merge. If that is true it is illegal. The complaints only come from those who are being affected while the other side remains quiet and therein lies the hypocrisy. If a person makes derogatory remarks in public about their employer, they should expect consequences. The same is true if they make public statements that contradict company policy.
