Projects

When I was in college in the 50's the government began building what became known as "The Projects". These were high rise apartment buildings to house homeless and others who could not afford housing. 40 years later the government torn down the projects. What happened? I called these projects the modern day equivalent of the reservation. A lot of decent people moved into these apartments but a share of bad apples also moved in and like the old saying goes, one bad apple can spoil the barrel. The buildings became crime invested with drug dealers and the whole country learned an important lesson or so I thought. This week, Los Angeles has announced that they will build a new city filled with affordable high rise apartments for those now living on the streets. I say, good luck.
