Canada’s relationship with the US is much like the European country’s relationship with the US. First off Canada spends 1.37% of its budget on national defense while the US spends 3.75%. This means that Canada is relying on the US for protection and then they use the savings to help pay for national healthcare. They also, using various types of tariffs, run a $60 billion dollar trade surplus with the US.
