Hegseth

Pete Hegseth, the new Secretary of State, is learning the hard way what Trump discovered in his first term as president. There are people within the bureaucracy that will leak any information that they see as detrimental. It forced Trump in his second term to be very open when ever possible. There are those in the defense department who do not like the changes that Hegseth is proposing and will do what they can to oppose his agenda. Other agency leaders should take note, that bureaucrats who have spent their lives aligning themselves with the status quo, will not want to change and thus will take steps to block any new approaches to government. These individuals or groups will be championed by the people in the press who also want to maintain the status quo. It can be very difficult, it not impossible, to change a system as large as the federal government. This is especially true when talking about cutting staff and budgets. This is the job of congress but they are unable or unwilling to carry out their oversight responsibility.
