Guilty or not
As I watched the saga of the Trump campaign unfold, I was mindful of the situation faced by a defense lawyer in a typical criminal trial. The district attorney has the power of the state behind him which includes almost unlimited resources and money. The state can use many lawyers, investigators and experts and question anyone concerned and most witnesses are afraid of the police. The defense lawyer must rely on the resources of the defendant, which in Trumps case, were substantial and allowed him to escape prison but not before the prosecutors tagged him with four felonies. After the election Trump moved from defendant to prosecutor but many of those in power remained and were suspect in the eyes of Trump. He set about to remove any left overs that in his mind could not be trusted. Some were obvious, having made public statements about Trumps guilt but others acted behind the scenes. These were the people who leaked uncomplimentary information to the press. Anti-Trumper’s see this as revenge and the pro Trumper’s see it as retribution. Most people would rather forget about the past and start solving problems. Trump will likely do some of both.
