New jobs

Many people see the entrance of AI, as robots causing automation that replaces humans with machines and thus the loss of jobs. While this on the surface is true, looking deeper tells a different story. It takes engineers to design an automated plant but it takes workers to build the robots that build the end product. It also takes humans to run the automated plant. It is the same when an architect designs a building or a bridge. It requires workers to do the actual construction. There will be many new jobs for workers but they will not be so labor intensive such as ditch diggers but there will be a need for machine operators and many trades people like electricians and plumbers. All of these changes will mean increased productivity and that allows for increase wages without causing inflation. Many jobs like making computer chips will be handled by people right out of high school with on-the-job training. Since 1960, US productivity has grown at a 2% compounded annual rate, meaning workers are now producing 250% more than in 1960. This growth will increase with the efficacies caused by new factories and AI.
