Deficit

The US has been providing security for Europe since NATO was founded in 1949. In addition, the US pays the most of any country for various organizations including the UN, WTO and WHO. In emergencies the US is always up front in providing aid to countries around the world. The US has an annual trade imbalance of almost one trillion dollars per year. That’s more than the GDP of 175 of the world’s 195 countries. The US is the leader in research in most areas, including medical where new products have saved millions of lives. Just one recent example is the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief called PEPFAR which save more than 25 million lives and prevented millions more of HIV infections. The US is the leader in new technology and this is also shared with others. All of this is carried on as if the US has a budget surplus and the country is just sharing its excess with the rest of the world but in fact the US has a $36 trillion dollar deficit, which is slowly dragging the country down. If the US wants to continue its practice of helping others it must get its house in order or the golden goose will die.
