Eugenics
In the late 19th century, a practice called Eugenics was popular. It was the forced sterilization of certain people based on race and other xenophobic attitudes. The result was that many Black Americans were sterilized. This practice is still legal in 30 states but is limited to disabled people and no longer associated with race. Since the passage of Roe v Wade in 1973 there have been 63 million legal abortions. To be pro choice on abortion is the more common position but some people are just pro-abortion. These are individuals or groups that understand that children born in poverty are likely to live in poverty and out of compassion encourage poor women to abort. This indirectly returns to the old ways of eugenics because many more Blacks are poor. The result is that while Black women represent 7% of the population, they have 40% of the abortions. This is the modern-day equivalent of Eugenics.
