Ukraine War

The American people are slowly coming around to the fact that the Ukraine War will not result in one side winning but rather a long-term affair that will destroy Ukraine. Most people are now looking for a peaceful settlement. This will put an end to the death and destruction of the past three years but one country that would benefit greatly is Germany. The German government over the past 20 years has made a series of unforced errs caused by bad policy and they are now paying the penalty. Adding to their mistakes is the loss of Russian oil and gas. German industry, once the power house of Europe, is now in decline as is their economy in general which has been in a recession for the past two years. Germany's most immediate problem is that its economic growth has stalled. The European Commission forecasts GDP growth of just 0.7 percent in 2025, marking the slowest pace among EU nations. Since 2017, the German economy has grown by a mere 1.6 percent, far below the EU average of 9.5 percent. Feb 19, 2025
