China's nukes

Last week it was announced with great fanfare that China had sent a weapon into orbit. Of far greater importance is China building commercial thorium nuke plants and that does not make the news. The big concern in the minds of most people regarding nuclear power plants is safety. Thorium plants have what is called walk away safety. This means using the laws of physics to deal with safety. If a problem of safety occurs in a thorium plant the employees just walk away and let nature solve the problem. Thorium is plentiful and inexpensive. Thorium plant produce far less dangerous waste and can use existing waste as fuel. Stock piles of long term dangerous waste from uranium plant can we recycled into thorium plants. Thorium plants are smaller in size and less costly to build. China will be selling these plants around the world and this is the road to zero carbon emissions. The fossil fuel industry continues to emphasized nuclear safety and renewables see thorium as a threat as both see nuclear as a competitor.
