Climate info

Today I saw a young woman driving a car with two bumper stickers. The first said, "New Green Deal', and the second said, "I like clean water". I wondered out loud does she know that mining for rare earths used to build solar panels is poisoning the water for 200 million people in China. If not why not. The answer is that the news media does not tell the story of how rare earths are mined. They talk everyday of how wind and solar will replace fossil fuels not understanding why that will not happen. This young lady is unaware that the new green deal is more about social change than clean water. It appears that many in the press are not well informed about mining rare earths.
