Buy American

One of the goals of the Trump administration is to bring manufacturing jobs back home. One way to do this is to lower taxes on companies who make and sell products in the US. Another is to put a tax on imported products. This will raise the price to the consumer on these products and thus make US products more competitive. Here is one example. In October 2024 United States' Refrigerators exports accounted up to $219M and imports accounted up to $1.14B, resulting in a negative trade balance of $921M Although not all materials are sourced from the U.S., Maytag still has some fridges designed, engineered, and assembled in Amana, Iowa Here is a comparison between a Maytag 22 cu ft stainless bottom freezer made in America costing $1,498 and an imported LG the same size in stainless for $1,298 or $200 cheaper than the US product. Now add a 25% tariff and the LG cost $1,622 which is $124 more expensive than the Maytag. This will encourage Americans to buy America. This promotes the Biden law. The goal of “Buy American” is to bolster domestic manufacturing and employment. “Buy America” is a provision of U.S. law that applies to only federal transportation funding.Feb 28, 2023 This is a bi partisan effort to promote Buy American
