Rare earths

The discussion about rare earth elements in Ukraine suggest that there are known deposits. Rare earths are found in every country but not always in the concentration needed for a good return on investment. Normally rare earths are found in the left overs from mining other metals most commonly iron ore. The US will likely set up mining and processing plants near where the iron ore tailings are stored. This gives a head start since the raw ore is already broken down into smaller pieces.
