Every week, some democratic leader comes out saying that the party needs to change. They saw how Trump exploded the republican party and now they must do the same. The strategy of the democrats for the past ten years has been to attack Trump’s personality and character and it hasn’t worked. Calling him Hitler, a dictator and a threat to democracy is not working. The must start talking policy. What can they do to help the voters, especially the low- and middle-income workers? Here are some starting points. Raise the income tax rates on upper income earners. Tax capital gains at the ordinary income rates. Get rid of carried interest. Use that money to raise the child tax credit to $5,000. Help companies to train workers for the new AI industry jobs. Help these new workers to form unions. Move away from the New Green Deal and promote small nuclear reactors. Close the door on devisive cultural issues. Expand on Biden’s America First idea by promoting reshoring. It is time for a change in strategy.
