Government

The situation that has developed with USAID is a textbook example of what happens all too often with government agencies. The congress or the president creates these groups and then fails to police their activities and the natural result of any group is to grow and expand. As a part of the budget process these agencies should undergo periodic audits to control the excesses now being exposed in USAID. This is how the bureaucracy got to the point where the EPA can save nature at the expense of people, how the FDA floods the market with drugs as the revolving door with Big Pharma swings open, how generals get jobs in the defense industry and on and on. Even the CIA got its comeuppance with the Church Committee in 1975 and is long overdo for another investigation. Even the FBI has lost its way as witnessed by the Russian collusion story. The whole of government needs a house cleaning.
