Fast train
The high-speed rail line between San Franscico and LA has come under scrutiny in recent weeks. The problem is the cost overrun and delay caused by “we got the cart before the horse”.
“It got federal monies to start in a specific location and those dollars had to be spent under an unrealistic timeline,” he said. “The authority wanted to advance work to keep the federal dollars which was understandable, but in so doing, it got into construction before some of the pre-construction activities were done.”
The voters approved $33 billion for the project in 2008 and to date $128 billion has been spent and the line has completed 120 miles of the expected 600-mile project.
This same thing is happening across the country with electric cars. The government is demanding that people buy EV’s and the charging stations are not built and even if they were the grid could not handle the load. In both of these cases there was a serious problem of not planning ahead.
