Used blades

Waste material from nuclear power plants is generally stored on site but if they were all gathered together, they would fit on a football field (1.3 acres) and be stacked 30 feet high. This is waste accumulated over 60 years. Used windmill blades present a more complicated problem. One site in Texas is 30 acres piled ten feet high, and 78% of used blades are sent to landfills. This is waste from 25 years. There are three other major storage sites in Wyoming, Iowa and South Dakota. In addition, used blades are sent to landfills in Africa and Europe.
