Deportation
Trump fired 20 immigration judges and Matthew Briggs the president of the union said Trump wants to remove illegals but needs judges to process them. He said there are 3.5 million pending cases but he did not mention the 1.4 million who have been adjudicated and deemed not eligible for asylum but remain in the country. The question is why haven’t they been deported. This 1.4 million represents only one half the number that Obama deported. This could indicate that Trump’s long-term plan is to find a path to citizenship for many of these people. Right now, his priority is to deport the criminals and find the missing children. The decision on the others is pending.
