Wars

As people look at the Ukraine War they should evaluate the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq our two most recent military adventures. The U.S. spent $2.3 trillion on the war in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2022. This cost does not include: Lifetime care for veterans and the death of American soldiers. Interest payments on borrowed money Deaths of private contractors Deaths of foreign workers for U.S. contracting firms The country remains under the control of the same groups that were there at the start but now they have billions of dollars of US military equipment. The Iraq War from 2003 to 2011 cost a total of $3 trillion dollars 1,127 adults were polled nationwide, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. Thirty percent of those polled said the invasion of Iraq was worth the American casualties and other costs, while 63% said the war was not worth it. In less that three years the US has spent $175 billion on Ukraine. Is the country headed for another ten or twenty years of war? These trillions are used to build the munitions of war while domestic needs go unmet. When will the people who are always concerned about the poor and the homeless in America demand an end to these endless wars? Polls show that support for this war has dropped from 66% at the start to 48% today.
