IRA
Words matter is an old adage and people in government understand this so often the names of different things are changed in the hopes of offering a better interpretation of the subject. One of the more recent examples is the Inflation Reduction Act passed in 2022. Upon examination of the Act, it was discovered that almost all of the $1.2 trillion dollars was designated for improving energy use to promote climate change. In retrospect this Act is seen by many as one or the reasons why inflation rose which means that the inflation reduction act became the inflation production act. In this example the name did not increase the understanding of the issue but rather obscured the meaning.
